Chris began working at BBC sport in 2012 with no journalistic training. He was advised that the NBS course (The Bauer Journalism Programme) would be an excellent way to ensure he could progress.
Soon after completing the course he became a broadcast journalist at BBC 5 Live on the daytime shows. After 2 years at 5 Live he moved to London, freelancing on the Today programme, Newsbeat and GNS.
He was then offered the position of Planning Editor at LBC […]
I’m a producer and presenter on Jazz FM’s morning current affairs programme, the Business Breakfast.
Every day I get to ask MPs, business leaders and experts what is actually going on in the world. I also get to wake up at half past four in the morning, so on balance perhaps it’s a wash!
I graduated from the National Broadcasting School in 2013, where I picked up the skills I now use every day. I benefited from speaking to real […]
It was back in 2007, shortly after starting Hull University to study media, that I knew I wanted to become a broadcast journalist.
I’d just started a 2-week work placement on the news desk at local station, Viking FM, and loved it that much – I helped out on all of my days off for four years.
I’d gained so many skills but knew I needed to fully qualify in the field which is what led me to studying for […]
Since leaving the course I have begun a varied career in freelance journalism.
I’ve worked for a number of radio companies across the country such as UKRD, Bauer and Wireless Group.
Being on the course prepared me perfectly for working in the industry, from the really important law stuff to all the fun on-air things. I got offered work as soon as I finished the course… and I’m not the only one, most people on the course got something too.
For me, the BJP course started as a career change because I wanted to get out of marketing and into radio, but it ended up being a career maker.
I learned valuable skills and made great contacts that have given me fantastic opportunities in Bauer.
I’ve worked at three different Bauer stations as a reporter and news reader covering everything from the general election to going out with police on puppy farm raids!
The course helped me achieve my dreams of […]
