Catherine’s X-factor

The NBS radio news grad who’s now the voice of X-factor and I’m a Celebrity

Catherine Whale said: “I can honestly say that I’ve not stopped since graduating from the NBS in 2005.

I’ve worked as a presenter on local radio stations, playing music I love and chatting to my pop idols. I’ve also been running around as a broadcast journalist trying to get David Cameron to answer my questions, while being filmed by SKY.

At present, I’m working as a continuity announcer for ITV1 where I script and voice links live. I’ve introduced everything from the ‘National Television Awards’, ‘The X Factor’, the final of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ and last year the final of ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ Words cannot express the buzz you get from speaking to nineteen million viewers! I also get a real kick out of introducing the institution that is ‘Coronation Street.’

In addition, I work as a freelance voiceover artist and have provided vocals for productions such as Bloomberg TV’s Davos 2012 World Economic Forum promos and a corporate video for Dulux employees.

One of my proudest moments this year was voicing my first national television commercial. It’s quite strange watching TV at home hearing your own voice coming out of the box!”
